Endowment - Academic Scholarships
Florida has more than 320 FFA Chapters with more than 15,000 students and projects and expects a 30% increase over the next three years. Chapter activities include some 130 competitive events supported by every sector of the state’s diverse agricultural industry.
Academic scholarships have been a tradition for the Florida FFA Foundation for many years. The fact is, we need more scholarships to attract students to become teachers of agriscience education. With 450 agriscience teachers in Florida taking in to consideration attrition, new openings and some teachers leaving for industry positions we have to constantly challenge our young people to consider teaching as a noble and honorable profession. The shortage of qualified agriscience teachers is the greatest challenge facing agriscience education and FFA.
Our objective is to equip and encourage students to choose careers in agriculture and agri-science. Today, they can continue their commitment to agriculture by choosing from more than 300 careers in agriculture and related fields. To help these students, each year the Florida FFA Foundation provides scholarships to graduating students who have chosen one of these fields and will be attending the University of Florida.
